Job Purpose

The manager production and design engineering is responsible for supervising all production and design engineering activities within Sofis. This will partially be a “working role”, where you will take up an active role within the department on several projects.

Your primary role will be to supervise and lead the team of design and production engineers, based in Alphen (NL) and Witham (UK). You will be responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time, to specification and at the agreed cost.

You will be responsible for scheduling, planning, forecasting and managing all technical activities associated with each project or order, commencing from handover from sales/projects engineering and ending with the successful and timely manufacturing of the order. You will be the main focal point and contact person for technical and bespoke concepts and designs for customers. Within this role, you and your team are responsible to technically review and design mechanical/electromechanical industrial solutions and build the final work packages for production.

You will need to continuously optimize all working procedures, look at efficiency improvement (automation simplification) in order to achieve the lowest cost and shortest lead times possible.


Qualifications include:

  • At least 3-5 years experience in managing a team
  • A degree or higher in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience with design/production engineering within a manufacturing environment
  • Ideally good working knowledge of drawing packages
  • English speaking
  • Excellent internal and external communication skills
  • Good working knowledge with Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook and ERP systems
  • Well organized and structural

    Working conditions

    The Manager Project Engineering will be based in the office located in the region of The Hague. The function will involve some travel, visiting client’s facilities (locally and internationally) for project meetings, but this is limited.
