Wat ga je doen?
Sofis is currently a manufacturer of mainly mechanical products but recognizes the trend in the industry towards more smart and digital products and services. Working within the Product Development team, you will play an important role in leading new product developments and introduce innovative electromechanical and digital technologies in the interlocks industry. You will report to the Head of Product Development and work closely together with the rest of the Product Development team, the Business Development team within Marketing, as well as with development partners and sub-contractors.
You will be responsible and accountable for the following:
Support the development of a technology roadmap for Sofis, focused on Smart Industry and Digital Transformation
Technology assessment for new product development opportunities for electronic, electromechanical, and digital products for the interlocks industry and valve operation industry
Reviewing existing patents and providing technical input for new patent applications
Write technical requirement specifications for new product developments
Act as technical project leader for new product development projects
Concept development for smart and digital products, including evaluation and selection
Designing and building proof of principle prototypes for testing and validation of concepts, as well as fully functional prototypes for demonstration purposes, both Sofis internal and to our agent network and clients
Working with external third-party companies (including other Halma companies) to enable fast product development (partner first approach to NPD)
Define requirements, communicate with suppliers, coordinate sample production, sample inspection and testing, release products for production. Act as primary point of contact and coordinator for development partners and sub-contractors
Product testing & validation and product certification. Ensure that all products adhere to required standards and approvals
Reporting on product and development. Provide product assembly and inspection procedures, and technical content for product documentation / IOM
Provide training and technical support to the rest of the organisation and customers as required
Wat verwachten wij?
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics or equivalent
Minimum 3-5 years’ experience and a proven track record on product development
Understanding of the complete design cycle from concept through development to production and support, for hardware, firmware and software for new projects
Minimum basic working knowledge of software architectures and software programming
Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects
Demonstrated experience with new product delivery with external partners (hardware and software)
Knowledge of design for ATEX / explosion hazardous environments is an advantage
Knowledge of RF communication technologies is an advantage
Self-starter and highly motivated, comfortable with driving and managing own activities
Pro-active and results driven
Comfortable working in a small product development team (4-5 people) with a wide range of tasks and responsibilities
Flexible to change
Good communication skills
