Wat ga je doen?
Working within the Product Development team, the Senior Product Design Engineer will play an important role in leading and executing new product developments. You will report to the Head of Product Development and work closely together with the rest of the Product Development team and the Business Development team within Marketing.
You will be responsible and accountable for the following:
Support the development of a technology and product roadmap for Sofis
Technology assessment for new product development opportunities for the interlocks industry and valve operation industry
Reviewing existing patents and providing technical input for new patent applications
Write technical requirements specifications for new product developments
Act as technical project leader for new product development projects and deliver engineering projects on-time and on-cost
Concept development for new products, including evaluation and selection
Designing and building proof of principle prototypes for testing and validation of concepts, as well as fully functional prototypes for demonstration purposes
Deliver 3D designs, detailed engineering, and technical production drawings
Define requirements, communicate with suppliers, coordinate tooling and sample production, support sample inspection and testing, release parts for production. Act as primary technical contact for suppliers and sub-contractors in the project
Product testing & validation and product certification
Reporting on product and development. Provide product assembly and inspection procedures, and technical content for product documentation / IOM
Provide training and technical support to the rest of the organisation and customers as required
Wat verwachten wij?
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Design Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Minimum 5-8 years’ experience and a proven track record on product development
Understanding of the complete design cycle from concept through development to production and support
Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects. Experience with working with external suppliers is preferred
Advanced knowledge of 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks
Good understanding of production and machining technologies. Experience with (lost wax) metal casting processes is preferred
Self-starter and highly motivated, comfortable with driving and managing own activities
Pro-active and results driven
Comfortable working in a small product development team (4-5 people) with a wide range of tasks and responsibilities
Flexible to change
Good communication skills
